It has a screen shut off option in the settings, and I have it set to "1 minute", but after an hour it won't go into standby. It doesn't have any intelligent software to sense how many times I meant to push the button, I suppose.I also can't get the screen to shut off. This I expect is a problem unique to my phone, but it's very frustrating.Otherwise, I like the actual working parts of this; I don't need my computer on, it feels nice in my hand, and I can go scouting the neighborhood looking at the names of people's wireless router networks. It would be great if this worked well. The battery meter isn't accurate; it actually jumps around every so often, sometimes saying it's 3/4 full, sometimes 1/4, always "Full" when I try to charge it, and every so often it dies without warning.The buttons aren't hard to push, but much too easy to enter too many; I often type too many of a letter, and end up deleting more than I wanted when I try to fix my mistake.
and this with the phone resting 3 feet from my router. Sometime during the call, sometimes without even using. After been a long-time Skype user I was looking for a phone that would give me more comfort that using a headset on my PC. I have 3 major issues with this phone:- I know it did not had a cradle, but the battery life is so bad that I keep it on charger all the time.- The quality of the sound is good, but the volume is too low for People to ear me properly- Most of all the wifi connection keeps breaking.
This phone does exactly what it says it will do. As soon as I turn on the phone, even from my room, the phone asks what network you would like to join. Before I went to Mexico for vacation, I loaded my skype account with about $20. ( Skype to Skype is always free).
This is a great way to be able to use Skype without having to lug around an expensve laptop, microphones, and earpieces, which can be cumbersome.I loved this product so much, I bought another one for my son who is doing volunteer work in Chile this summer. I joined the hotel network with one click and I could now make calls. Calling from the Skype phone to a pc was even better.Free. He has been able to use this phone successfully from hotels, restaurants, and anywhere there is wifi. And all the while, I could be in my hotel room, or lounging by the pool instead of being tied to a computer while I made calls. It is simple to set up and super simple to use.
The calls were crystal clear sounding, and might I add, very cheap. I would definitely recommend this product. This would allow me to call home via Skype to landlines. Whenever I wanted to call home, I would turn on the phone at the hotel.
The sound quality is not that good but I do not get any echoes. Battery life is rather short -- 2 days without using, so I pretty much keep it plugged to the power all the time. I cannot disable the sound that is associated with the disconnect, so it becomes pretty annoying, especially during the night.
Sadly, I did not get a reliable one. Personally to me, it feels cheap. I bought the phone because skype.com recommended it and I wanted to get a reliable phone.
The worst thing is that it tends to disconnect once in 1-2 hours from my wi-fi network, which is almost in front of the phone and router has an antenna booster. It has a plug for headphone/mic but I did not find any references on where to get a compatible set.It is an OK phone but for $100+ I would not recommend it and would recommend to wait for the next generations of the phones. First, the design of the phone is not that good.

I am an IT guy and I probably could've forced the Belkin device to work but that was not the point. Excellent job, nicely done. Would not connect to my LinkSys router even with my settings as wide open as Lindsay Lohan. the point was that Belkin represents this product as something my technophobiac parents could use and that is simply just not true. When I started asking some tough questions about the device, the poor guy on the other line I think started to cry. This product is the worst.
not even close. User interface was intuitive and setup was a piece of cake. I should've read the reviews before getting it. Anyway, I bought the NetGear SPH200w and it worked right out of the box. Again, get the NetGear. Plug-n-play.
The user interface is clumsy and the tech support was a joke.
